I've noticed a growing trend, especially in the Politics forum. A poster will send a message that consists solely of a hyperlink, sometimes to an article, and sometimes (increasingly, it seems) to a YouTube video. Is this an acceptable practice? And if it is, perhaps that decision could be revisited? I always thought that a person was supposed to include something of their own to each post.
It seemed to me that at one time the forum software wouldn't accept a post unless it had a certain amount of typed in text ...was I imagining that or perhaps that was on another forum in which I participate?
In certain occasions, perhaps the poster who makes the thread wants to introduce an idea, topic, or video and let other users get their inputs first. I know I've done this a few times to get other users' opinions before introducing my own.
I post a video from time to time with a comment.
Usually the video makes the desired statement, but it seems nekkid without a few personal syllables...
Is that in response to the question asked in the title of the thread? Or is it a response to the question asked within the post?

If the practice of posting a message consisting solely of a hyperlink is appropriate, I'd like to suggest that a slight change to the forum rules might be needed. Right now, the rules include the following:
Instead of copying-and-pasting articles, photos, or other material you find on the Internet, you should be posting links to those articles. Posting a snippet from the article and then the link is the appropriate way to post.
Since some members are posting neither snippets nor their own thoughts on the topic, perhaps the rules should acknowledge and condone this practice?
