After someone reports a post, what process follows that before it is deleted or edited by a moderator? How long does it take?

It gets sent to us Moderators, and as we come on the site we are checking on reported post that either come into our e-mail, or if we see something in the states we cover, we then take care of it right away.
Sometimes we do jump around and help out other Moderators with their sites, and sometimes depends on when they come online.
There is no set time as when some one gets to the post, but we do try to keep up as well as can be. I hope this helps. Yorkie

Reported posts are not necessarily deleted or edited. A better word would be reviewed. After the post is reviewed, it could be deleted (spammers always get deleted right away), edited (you usually see the MOD Cut...), moved to the correct forum, or in some cases, left alone if the Moderator believes it is not offensive or doesn't break any rules (some Moderators may send an e-mail to explain this). Furthermore, if the reported post is a personal attack, then the offender could be penalized.
This process could take as little as a couple of minutes (if there is a Moderator signed on the forum) or a couple of hours.

Look at top right side of screen and click on PRIVATE MESSAGES. On the next screen, look to the left under Private Messages and click on SEND NEW MESSAGE. In the RECIPIENT area, start typing the name you want and suggested names will appear. Select the person you want. Don't forget to put a title in the message or it will not be sent. You will want to contact one of the two Super Moderators, Markablue or Yac.

Well that's up to them to speak up for themselves, but offending other posters should not be allowed under any circumstance. Should this be any other website forum, I could care less, but since on City-Data.com they make it a point for everybody to play nice, everything should go accordingly.

If all the posts I personally object to were deleted, the P&oC forum would be reduced by half.

But in all seriousnesss, it doesn't seem possible to scrutinize all the posts that go thru this board. I report what offends me; I report mis-directed posts, and I make suggestions with the little "triangle." Sometimes my suggestions are taken up; sometimes they aren't--that's fair! After all, I'm not the PC police chief, just a member with opinions.

Well only if I feel it makes me look bad in some uncalled for way, not just because they say something I don't like.

Now why aren't you a moderator? It seems like you should be by now.
