Is it me or is this normal? I'm pretty new here but I've been on vBcode message boards for years. When I chose a thread it will load the first post and then take an abnormally long time to load the rest. Is this me? I'm on dsl. Should I have something turned off/on?
Thanks. Couldn't find a bug report fora. If this is the wrong place, please move.
I also received a few error messages about an hour ago when trying to load a thread that said something like "The forum is too busy to load this thread right now. Please wait."
It happens from time to time - if you do a search, such reports are posted here periodically. Often it's not even website specific, it may be due to increased traffic on any server that is between you and us.
At the moment, nothing indicates that it's a persistent problem on our side. It should get better sooner or later.

I've been finding the site to be extremely slow, both from home and from work and I have high speed on both. There's a noticeable difference the past few days.
sometimes I just get out completely and come back in because it seems to be getting hung up frequently.

It's not the connection you have, really. I'm no specialist but something our webmaster showed me once, just to show what we're talking about here:
Go to Start -> Run and type in cmd (that is, if you're using Windows, I've no idea how to do that with Linux). In the window that opens, write: tracert city-data.com - it will give you the list of servers you have to go through to get to CD and the time it takes for your signal to be routed.
The way Internet is functioning, your connection type would be less important than the number (and speed) of all the servers you'll see there. Something may go wrong on any one of them at any given time.

That's cool Marka. I tried it. Wanted to copy the screen as I have absolutely not even the foggiest of the meaning of any of the information that was coming up, but it kept adding, and adding, and adding, albeit s l o w l y. Oh, and I couldn't copy the screen.
Do you know how to do that and I'll try it again so you can see the window.

I know what it looks like so there's no need to copy it for me - it's just a FYI: notice how many servers are listed, that should give you an idea how the signal travels and how many servers are on the way that may be responsible for slowing it down.
I've been having trouble with the site responding slowly or not responding at all for the last hour.
According to a couple of traceroutes I performed at newhousenetwork.net, it looks like there's a big slowdown this morning at city-data's datacenter in Dallas.
