I very often see comments such as "I've just read through all 15 pages of this thread" or directions like "check page three of this thread for such and such response."

I cannot recall what the forum default is - 15 posts per page? Anyway, not many IMHO. Personally I prefer to see more posts, rather than flipping repeatedly from page to page to page. Especially if viewing the forum on a smartphone or tablet, where response can be much slower. So I see 40 posts per page which I consider much more efficient.

Anyway, it seems to me that perhaps many people don't realise they can choose posts per page from five to 40.

Go to My Settings.
Click Edit Options.
Scroll down to Thread Display Options.
Set your preference in Number of Posts to Show Per Page.

There's all sorts of other ways you can customise CD in the Edit Options tab. I suspect a lot of people don't know this. I know it took me a few years to figure it out.

Thanks for the info, OP.

My question is: Is there way to adjust # of threads per page ?
I ask bc. in some subsections-on occasion-there seem to be many fewer threads on each page than in another subsection-and I'd prefer uniformity.
Is it based on something else that I don't know about or don't have access to (and which varies over time) ?

Example: Rels. has long list of threads per page, but another area-say Psych. or Phil.-will have short page (smaller # of threads per displayed page).

I wish the maximum was higher than 40, like 100 or 200.

No, there isn't. You can, however, merge the view of subforums so that you can see all of the threads in the section without division. The link is on the blue bar.
