| Response to smoke damage from the fire two stores down: - From the black soot observed on the HVAC grills, the air ducts for the HVAC system should be cleaned, if possible, to prevent soot from potentially re-contaminating food contact surfaces and food. If ducts are able to be cleaned as determined by the professional cleaning service, it may be necessary to replace duct work. - Once the building is clean (cleared by the cleaning service professionals) and utilities restored, clean and sanitize all equipment, utensils, pots and pans, food contact surfaces, etc... before restocking food. - Call for an inspection once the facility is ready to reopen. - Per management, all food in open and in unsealed containers (not in vacuum sealed plastic) was discarded. This includes food in the prep units, the walk-in refrigerator, and dry storage areas. The walk-in refrigerator draws fresh air from the common attic space of the strip mall and drew smoke into the walk-in refrigerator unit. - Any food that was able to be saved was transported to Food Lion's cold storage until the facility can be restored.
