-Ensure all food is removed from the floor in the kitchen.
-Please notify the health department once the reach in coolers have been repaired.

  • Critical: Food - Potentially Hazardous Food - Cold Holding* (corrected on site)
    Observation: The following foods were observed to be cold holding at improper temperatures: 1. the yogurt (60'F internally) in the infants room A RIC 2. the ranch dip (44'F) in the toddlers room RIC. The PIC had the foods discarded during the inspection and placed work order in for both coolers to be repaired. Infants Room A RIC measured at 62'F and Toddlers Room RIC measured at 52'F.
    Correction: Discard the food and ensure that potentially hazardous foods for cold holding are maintained at 41°F or below to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria.

  • Equipment - Good Repair and Proper Adjustment
    Observation: The can opener blade was observed to be dull. Metal shavings observed along the sides of the can opener blade.
    Correction: Disassemble the can opener, clean and sanitize the assembly, remove and replace the blade. Can opener blades must be kept sharp to prevent creation of metal fragments that can contaminate food in the can when opened.
  • Critical: Water Capacity* (corrected on site)
    Observation: The water heater / boiler serving the food service establishment is no longer operable. Facility did not have hot water at the time of inspection. Handsink measured at 79'F and the 3 compartment sink measured at 75'F. The PIC reset the hot water heater and the hot water was restored to the 3 compartment sink in the kitchen measuring at >110'F. Hot water was not restored to the handsink. The PIC contacted the repair company during the inspection and they arrived during the inspection. A makeshift handsink was supplied with water measured >100'f during the inspection.
    Correction: EHS is to confer with his/her supervisor for closure of establishment for an imminent health hazard. (See section 12 VAC 5-421-3910)

-Recommend replacing the can opener blade, metal shavings beginning to collect along the sides of the blade.
-Ensure staff members are replacing the label on the container used to hold the chemical sanitizer once it has worn off.
-Certified Food Manager Course information provided.
Excellent handwashing procedures observed throughout the inspection. Kitchen observed to be very clean and well maintained, thanks!

  • Handwashing - Using a Handwashing Lavatory (corrected on site)
    Observation: The handwashing facility in the kitchen was observed to be blocked, preventing access by employees for easy handwashing. Observed a box of bananas to be stored over the handsink in the kitchen. PIC removed the box immediately.
    Correction: Access to the handwashing facility identified above is to be available during all hours of operation. Remove anything preventing its use.
