Notes: *Gave manager a sample employee health policy to implement. *All food containers must be labeled with the common name of the item. Observed a plastic container of what appeared to be sugar that was not labeled. *Repairs to, or replacement of, the hot water heater must be done immediately to avoid further enforcement action. A reinspection will be done to ensure this issue has been fixed. Please call the health department at 276-228-5507 to discuss the plan of action and time frame.

Observation: In use open drinking containers stored in a manner that may contaminate food, food contact surfaces or utensils.
Correction: Employees may drink from a closed beverage container if the container is handled to prevent contamination of (1) The employee's hands (2) The container and (3) Exposed food clean equipment, utensils, and linens and unwrapped single-service and single-use articles.
- Warewashing - Manual Warewashing Equipment, Wash Solution Temperature
Observation: The temperature of the in-use wash water solution was observed at less than 110°F.
Correction: Maintain a temperature of 110°F and above or the temperature specified by the manufacturer for optimal performance of the detergent to clean equipment and utensil surfaces.
- Critical: Water Capacity*
Observation: The water heater serving the food service establishment is no longer able to supply adequate hot water for the facility.
Correction: EHS is to confer with his/her supervisor for closure of establishment for an imminent health hazard. (See section 12 VAC 5-421-3910) Immediate action to correct this issue is necessary.
- Handwashing Lavatory, Water Temperature, and Flow
Observation: Water from the handwashing sink was measured at a temperature less than 100°F.
Correction: Make necessary adjustments to valves and lines serving the handsink to provide water of at least 100°F to allow more effective removal of fatty soils encountered in kitchens.
