Description: Boomer’s is an East County institution for kids, teens, and tweens. Hit the batting cages, play a round of miniature golf, or enter the cacophonous video arcade. Climb aboard bumper boats to get wet or go-karts to get dusty. There’s a party room and, of course, a junk food eatery.

Description: Set on the campus of Cuyamaca College, this museum attracts some folks who just come for the view. It’s located atop a hill that overlooks the entire El Cajon valley area, and that’s quite a sight on a perfect San Diego day.The museum is known for its cultural and educational displays, which reflect the natural and human history of the Americas. Don’t expect the Smithsonian, but rather a carefully selected collection of minerals and meteorites, fossils, seashells, tribal tools, effigies, baskets, jewelry, and indigenous artifacts. There’s a small art gallery, too. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Saturday from noon to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $3.00 for adults; kids younger than age 17 (with an adult) are admitted free.

Description: The Sycuan Resort and Casino, in East County’s El Cajon, isn’t just another place for adult fun: There’s also a golf course and golf school, a resort hotel with nearly a dozen lighted tennis courts, and the Showcase Theater for evening entertainment. You’ll also find satellite wagering and a 24-hour card room but no cocktails; this is an alcohol-free casino complex. No alcohol is served in the restaurants either, which include an all-you-can-eat buffet, a sit-down restaurant, and a 24-hour cafe and deli. High-stakes bingo is the biggest draw, right along with the buffet and the restaurants. Call for a schedule of live entertainment. You must be age 21 to gamble in California, even on Indian reservations.
