I was looking at the music charts of Taiwan and it's like all American music! That's crazy. Are there any places left in the world where teenagers have a culture closer to their parents than to American teenagers and where music in the native language is still appreciated by young people?

North Korea?

I had the feeling that when you turn on radio in Europe, you still hear a lot of European music there.

Marketing plays a huge role. Russian MusTV had only Russian music at first, unlike mixed-music local MTV. Today MusTV plays lots of US music too, because it pays.

Tastes, and especially charts, are heavily influenced by what TVs and radios push to people, especially kids.

Most music here is still Russian, because the country is big and rich enough to have it's own "hollywood".

I think the OP meant where they are not "like" Americans, not that they are specifically into American music. In all of these places the teens are very similar in dress, actions, and music sound/types as Americans. It's a good question as to where you could go to find teens that are more like their parents- it seems everywhere I've been the teens are very "Americanized", even in places like China.

Music Charts, Most Popular Music, Music by Genre & Top Music Charts | Billboard

Only two of the songs in the Top 10 right now are French. Though to be fair only two of them are American, the rest are from other countries.

I worked daily with Russian teens, and they spoke much more about 50 Cent, Justin Bieber (who's actually Canadian, thank god) and Paris Hilton than they did Ksenia Sobchak, Zemfira and ViaGra. I would estimate that 70% of movies playing in the cinemas were American-made as well. As a matter of fact, most of the teens joked openly about the quality of Russian pop and cinema.
The only country I've ever lived in with a movie industry that is well-developed (to the point that the vast majority of movies in cinemas were domestic) was India.
I know you love links and pictures, so here is the current cinema line-up of movies playing in Vladivostok: VL.ru -
Out of the ten movies shown, one is Russian, one is French, and eight are American. So, I guess the Russian "Hollywood" has some catching up to do :-D

I wouldn't trust anything teens spoke to some American old fart.

Girls are into Russian music mostly, while boys into foreign.

That doesn't really say much about cultural influence, because Hollywood makes movies for the whole world.

I referred to pop music.
