This morning, the classic rock station and the oldies station were both playing "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones. Have you ever heard two stations play the same song at the same time?
Since changes with FCC regulations regarding station ownership took place, most music radio stations have been swallowed up by the "big three" CBS, Citadel and Clear Channel. They got rid of local programed and controlled stations in favor of jockless automated crap on satellite feed. Thus you will now hear the same damn very limited playlist on every station played over and over ad nauseam
A few months ago in Denver while waiting for my husband I turned on the radio to check out their "variety". Ah....
I heard the Kinks "You Really Got Me" on KOOL 105 but at the same time the same tune was airing on 99.5 The Mountain, KRFK 103.5 The Fox, Oldies 950, KEZW "Studio 14" and some nearby station out of Fort Collins. Six totally different stations airing the same song.
A few minutes later I had changed to station to Denver's MIX 100 and heard the song by Train called "Hey Soul Sister". I bet my husband 5 bucks that if I would change the station the same song would pop up. It did as Alice 105.9, JACK-FM and HOT 107.1 were all airing the same Train tune at the same time it was on MIX 100.

I agree...especially if your moving between coverage areas. But many have the same 30 song playlist.
