I just looked and there's quite a bit of red traffic there.
Kind of beating a dead horse, but google Paramus traffic now at 5:47pm. Rt 17N/S is red or orange from Rt 46 to Midland Ave. Rt 4W is now red or orange from Teaneck Rd in Teaneck to Maple Ave in Glen Rock. That is 9 miles of cars with no place to go. The east bound side is no better. This is what you will contend with on your ride back to Paramus at rush hour, not to mention the nonsense around the GW Bridge.
If you lived in paramus at least you are closer to stores. If you live on. Residential street the traffic should not be that bad as you are already there
You don’t buy a new construction just for a new roof.
New roof is probably the EASIEST thing to fix on a house. I'd much rather need a new roof than a new kitchen. Call a roofer, 1-2 days work, done.
Glad to see you having an open mind but I'd hate to see you end up in a dying town like Closter as a fellow South Asian.
Change the filters in Zillow to Paramus/Recently Sold/$1M+ and you will be blown away. Absolutely stunning new construction homes.
Just keep an open eye, and you will find something.
If you don't believe me, or google. Make the drive in the morning/evening.
I promise Paramus to Bronxville/Washington Heights is faster than Closter to those respective areas
If you are focused on that side of Bergen County stick to Tenafly which is also booming like Paramus. (But far more expensive town with crazy taxes).
I would say Closter is definitely booming more than Tenafly these days. Both are nice though. Tenafly you're not finding anything close to new for 1mm but there are plenty of perfectly fine houses in that price range. In either town you need to get disclosure if they had any damage in Ida.
I agree, new construction in Paramus is stunning.....ly bad architecture, all around.
I felt that Closter was lively because of the new shopping center (Whole Foods + Target is an amazing combo in town). I'll spend some time in Paramus and see what it's like - I've had tough experiences on Rt. 4 the times I've been there - so it's hard to get over the mental hurdle there. As for the roof thing, that's just an example; what I mean is that you get some peace of mind knowing things are new. It also gives us a chance to get design features to accommodate an older relative who may live with us. I feel that Tenafly is very high end and probably too expensive for our budget plans. Thank you all.

To be fair that Target is a really crappy Target. But it does the job when you need something quickly. There are also a lot of great businesses in the "old" downtown area - fish store, excellent lunch/sandwich spot, kids shoe store and clothing stores, hardware and dime stores, the best bakery around, etc, etc. Personally I hate driving on the highway and I'm glad I never really do (not counting 9W/Palisades parkway to go up to piermont...which are great drives). Closter also very close to palisades center mall if you feel like your life isn't complete without mall trips.
One thing that impresses me about Montvale, aside from Wegman’s and occasionally The Fresh Market… they have the highbrowest looking 7-11 I’ve ever seen.

I couldn't find photos of the inside, but I can tell what you mean looking at the outside. Looks like a train station.

Wow. If you were excited by the closter plaza I feel like you really need to see the Bergen Mall, Garden State Plaza mall, RT 17/ Rt 4, and endless options in nearby towns. Paramus has a Whole Foods+target combo as well.
I’m not mocking you. Just confused. The choice is yours
