Same can be said for Maine as well, the upscale touristy areas (Camden, Bar Harbor, Kennebunkport) pull from similar demographic pools as Cape Cod, but the year round local population in the outlying coastal areas are similarly conservative. Not always Trump Flag conservative, but that's more due to the general New England aesthetic of minding your own business.

The Jersey Shore you're 100% correct - it leans very conservative up and down the coast, with the exception of a few bubbles. Even on LBI, where you can't buy a place for less than $1.5M, it's not uncommon to see Trump flags all over the place.
The reddest town on Cape Cod was Biden+8. That’s 4 points to the left of the United States of America.

Barnstable was Biden+18. Mashpee same thing.

It’s not remotely similar to like Ocean County that was Trump+20. Barnstable County is 40 points more democratic than Ocean County

Interesting, well suppose I'm wrong here. But I do find it surprising having spent a fair amount of time on Cape Cod, much of it feels conservative relative the rest of eastern MA. I'm with you on the Jersey Shore, it's much more obvious, though my suspicion was that some of that was simply optics between more guarded New England and more expressive New Jersey.

Although Republican margins may be narrowing a little in the most diverse and fast growing suburbs, pretty much the entire metro area outside Davidson County is solidly red.
Nashville / Davidson County is still heavy Blue, Democratic, diverse, left leaning and didn't go for Trump, the outer suburbs are a different story and way more conservative. There were reason behind this 3 way split though but doesn't change the real diverse dynamics of the City. Even though the suburbs are heavy red, with the change in diversity in Rutherford county, especially north Rutherford, I can see it going blue possibly in the near future. Other parts of the Metro, I have my doubts.

Cape Cod voters used to elect old-fashioned Yankee Republicans. There's been turnover in population + that party no longer exists in meaningful numbers. The heartland of conservatives in MA is the interior center of the mainland part of the former Plymouth Colony.

Love the Redding pun haha. Nah I’m just curious as we view Huntington Beach and Newport Beach ad conservative strongholds.

But OC is a George Bush/Ronald Reagan type of conservative not a Trump kind of conservative (ie Populist). Its also why GOP support in Texas is declining. Texas is conservative, not populist. But the flip side of that coin is that parts of the US that are populist (Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Parts of Florida, etc), the GOP is gaining huge ground.

Isn't GOP erosion in the suburbs offset somewhat by growing support in Hispanic counties in South Texas? Isn't that populist too?
