I have a 12 year old Burmese Benny who has had a complete bowel removal and now has to have 1 1/2 mls of a laxative twice a day. This has proved to be the right medication for him but every now and again usually after a change in his routine that I find I have to take him to the vet for a saline enema at a great cost of course. We dont mind doing this a couple of times a year but if it becomes more regular then we have no other alternative. Apparently Burmese Cats are prone to this type of disease. I always go to a Cat Specialist and not the regular vet to have these procedures done.cats are very good at disguising illnesses and even though he is badly constipated Benny will still purr and pretend to be happy. The only sign that he is not well is that he is not eating at all...grain free nibbles or wet food. He's a worry especially when we want to travel! The last time it happened I was away for 4 weeks and this time I've had the painters here for 3 weeks...so obviously it's stress related ! Hope I'm helping guys!
