Larsen's Apples

Also known as the Larsen Apple Barn and founded in 1860, this destination is the oldest continuously owned and operated farm in the region.

The Larsen Apple Barn grows twelve varieties of apples, as well as pears, peaches, nectarines, and pumpkins. They also feature a grassy picnic area three acres in size with picnic tables, waterfall, waterwheel, and the oldest apple tree in the county.

The farm also includes a museum full of farm history, antique farm equipment, a log cabin, covered wagon, and a number of doll houses. The Larsen Apple Barn opens daily from Labor Day through Christmas (except Saturdays).

The Larsen Apple Barn Bake Shop offers their famous apple turnover, as well as Cream Cheese Apple pie, cookies, jellies, and other treats. Young patrons may enjoy a chance to shake hands with "Mr. Apple" while at the Larsen Apple Barn.

The Larsen Apple Barn resides just over 60 miles east of Sacramento International Airport at the edge of El Dorado National Forest, midway between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. The farm is within walking distance of the Jack Russell Brewing Co. and Apple Blossom Park. A short drive away are more attractions, such as Ghost Mountain Ranch, river rafting tours, and the James W. Marshall State Historical Monument.
