Description: Hal Marcus is a huge name on the El Paso art scene. A native born and bred El Pasoan, Marcus, who is an El Paso Hall of Fame artist, has been painting in and around the region for decades and has truly helped to shape regional fine arts in El Paso. The Hal Marcus Studio and Gallery thus specializes in local art, showing not only the work of Hal Marcus himself, but also the work of many other regional artists, who in the past have included Bill Sullivan, Teresa Fernandez, Friar Vincent Petersen, Francisco Romero, Mauricio Mora, and Mark Paulda. Full of color, the warm and inviting space, which was once Marcus’s grandmother’s home, displays over 250 works of art in a changing exhibit gallery, an Early El Paso Art Salon dedicated solely to artwork and research materials on Early El Paso artists, and Hal’s painting studio where you can catch him painting, as well as see his newest works. The rest of the gallery contains a wide selection of art from many popular regional artists. There is also a gift shop full of cards, prints, and calendars by the featured artists, so even if you can’t afford to purchase a piece, you can take the artwork with you.
