Description: Chamizal National Memorial commemorates the amicable resolution of the U.S.–Mexico border dispute between El Paso and Ciudad Juárez. With three art galleries inside the Visitors’ Center, the work exhibited at the Memorial Galleries usually reflects the local history and landscape of the border region and, particularly, the border dispute resolution. Los Paisanos Gallery is located in the west wing of the Chamizal National Memorial administrative building and houses a rotating selection of exhibitions that have included photos and artwork related to the Mexican Revolution. The Abrazos Gallery presents a broader range of subject matter, often focusing on culturally interpretive and natural themes. The smallest of the three exhibit areas at Chamizal, the Borderland Gallery generally showcases a small selection of photographs by a local artist. Viewing the works exhibited in the Galleries at Chamizal National Memorial can really give the visitor a truer sense of the themes, both historical and natural, that relate to the Borderlands region.
