Description: Keystone is a unique natural attraction that incorporates an archaeological site, a wetland area and an arid botanical garden. The 52-acre park is home to Middle Archaic Native American ruins, some of which are more than 4,000 years old. Keystone Wetlands, one of the last remaining wetland areas along the Rio Grande, is visited by hundreds of migratory birds a year, including several dozen rare species, and is a hot spot for bird watching. Keystone Heritage Park also houses El Paso Botanical Garden, where you can discover the many types of cactus that grow in the area, stroll among butterflies, fill your nose with amazing smells in the Sensory and Culinary Garden, or find solace among the many plants with healing qualities in the Healing Garden. Visiting Keystone Heritage Park is a walking affair, but it is not a strenuous activity. A gentle stroll will take you through most of the site in an afternoon and give you a chance to explore all the beautiful natural areas on offer. If you are interested in bird watching, be sure to stop by during migratory times in spring and fall when birds are sure to be flying through. Entrance fees are $2 for adults, $1 for seniors, military, and children (2 to 12).
