Description: Within a 29-story building that was the city’s tallest at its 1922 opening, the charming boutique hotel takes its name from the Magnolia Petroleum Company that called this skyscraper home. That company became Mobil Oil and its lighted red Pegasus on top became Dallas’s signature symbol. This 330-room hotel retains original pieces of decor, such as gold-leaf and copper details and chandeliers in the lobby, and offers a variety of room types with few duplicating one another. Guest rooms feature wireless Internet access, large baths with soaking tubs, refrigerators, and premium Egyptian linens, and suites include full-size kitchens and sitting rooms. A recent $3 million update spruced up furnishings and decor in guest rooms and meeting rooms. An on-site fitness center includes Jacuzzi tubs, and a club lounge gives guests a place to read; have a cocktail, snacks, and breakfast; and play billiards. There’s complimentary transportation around downtown on weekdays.
