Description: A 1925 structure built by Conrad Hilton has borne many a hotel name on its doors through the years. Most recently a Holiday Inn called the Aristocrat, it enjoyed a thorough makeover two years ago to become one of a few of this new brand. As the Indigo’s emblem is a nautilus shell, the theme throughout evokes ideas of the beach and ocean, and the color schemes incorporate a range of soothing blues. There are 170 rooms, including 59 suites, on 13 floors. Oversized beds and pillows are lovely, and the glass-encased spa-style shower is a plus. Hardwood floors and area rugs make it feel less like a typical hotel. Some rooms have refrigerators, and there’s room service and a concierge, too. The 24-hour fitness center is small, but the equipment is good quality. There’s a business center and a small supply of meeting space. There’s free transportation within a 3-mile radius, which includes some Uptown restaurants and the Meyerson Symphony Center.
