Description: The 44-foot Cape Arago Lighthouse was commissioned in 1934 and is located 12 miles southwest of Coos Bay adjacent to Gregory Point. This lighthouse is the most recent lighthouse in service on the Coast and it replaced lighthouses that were built in 1866 and 1908. This lighthouse is not open to the public but it can be seen from trails at Sunset Bay State Park. To get to Sunset Bay State Park from US 101 in Coos Bay, follow the signs to Charleston Harbor and Ocean Beaches and drive on the Cape Arago Highway 12 miles southwest to the park.
