Description: The University of Nebraska at Omaha was once a commuter campus offering mostly night school to people with full time jobs; it’s evolved into a thriving campus with an active student body, on-campus housing, and a wide variety of majors, including the renowned Peter Kiewit Institute. UNO offers 125 bachelor’s degree programs, 40 masters programs, and five doctoral degree programs. The PKI includes two colleges: Information Science and Technology and the College of Engineering and Technology. Since its establishment in 1996, the PKI vaulted UNO into a groundbreaking institution for information technology and engineering education.UNO has four new on-campus housing options for students. Maverick Village includes 95 four-bedroom apartments with full bathrooms and kitchens; University Village offers apartment-style living for close to 600 students on campus; Scott Village, near the PKI, is a ten-building complex of apartment-style living that opened in late 2010; and Scott Residence Hall, also opened in late 2010, provides easy access to the PKI as well as the new Aksarben Village neighborhood. The complex includes mostly four-bedroom suite-style living with shared bathrooms in each unit.
