Description: A pretty yellow farmhouse with a fine porch, restored barn, and acreage to wander, this 200-year-old place is within walking distance of downtown Freeport but feels more like a country inn. There are seven rooms inside, each tastefully done with warm colors, sitting chairs, quilts, and, in some cases, four-poster beds. Fireplaces warm the parlors, where you can set up with a book or simply relax on the porch.

Description: Visible from I-95, this complex of 20 white cottages is very evocative, harking back to the motor courts of the 1950s. Very cute little clapboard-sided camps with wood-paneled interiors, they are set in a grove of trees, providing shade and atmosphere. They can accommodate couples or families and, despite their antique look, they have modern baths, color TV, and kitchenettes. Outside are play sets, picnic tables, and some trails through the woods. Pets are welcome. Rates are truly amazing for a place with such character just a few miles north of downtown. Open May to October.
