Accommodations - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Accommodations

Baton Rouge offers travelers a wide selection of places to stay. There are hotels to suit every taste and budget. Two major hotels are downtown, within walking distance of state and city governmental offices and a number of major attractions. Numerous others are situated at major intersections along I-10 and I-12, where they are convenient to Louisiana State University, business complexes, shopping centers, and medical facilities. Depending on the location this can include easy access to the Mall of Louisiana, Towne Center, Cortana Mall, or Baton Rouge General and Our Lady of the Lake hospitals. Several new hotels are situated near the Baton Rouge Metro Airport.

Baton Rouge attracts visitors year round, but the busiest times are most often linked to football weekends at LSU and Southern University. Rooms also fill up quickly for other collegiate events, including baseball and basketball games, as well as high school regional tournaments. In fact, the town is sports-fan friendly. Arrive as a team or with a team, and you’ll find welcoming hotel staffs. Seasonal events, such as Mardi Gras (usually in February or March) are also busy times.

Equally available are hotels with facilities designed for businessmen and -women working in the greater Baton Rouge region. Travelers with governmental meetings or assignments with any of the area’s petrochemical industries can easily find a quiet room with an up-to-date work space and that offers a solid night’s rest.

Hotels with large facilities for weddings, large charitable events, and conventions tend to have higher rates. Budget hotels can be found along the interstates and Airline Highway (U.S. 61).
