1. Inn At Longshore

City: Westport, CT
Category: Accommodations
Telephone: (203) 226-3316
Address: 260 Compo Rd. South

Description: This elegant inn was once a private estate until it was turned into a country club that hosted President Roosevelt, J. D. Rockefeller, and F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. Today it is a large hotel and conference center, complete with an enormous ballroom. The inn is often used for conferences, and its 18-hole golf course is a destination in itself. The view of Long Island Sound from the Longshore is excellent, and the “great lawn” between the inn and the water is a place for clambakes and barbecues, as well as receptions and weddings. The “drawing room” is a great place to relax in the winter months. Although the facility itself is huge, there are only 12 guest rooms, so expect to be treated well.
