Description: The “Lazy River” is very popular with small children, and the tall waterslide can surprise even the most-adult adult. Lap lanes are also available. This center is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Description: The South Center was renovated in 1998 to include a new lap pool, new locker rooms, an improved weight room, and an elevator. Young runners can take several mostly traffic-free jogging routes from here. This center is open Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Description: This is a summer-only magnet for families (see the Parks and Recreation Centers chapter). Highlights are a sand beach and rentals of non-powered watercraft including canoes, rowboats, paddleboats, and Sunfish. The reservoir is open from 6 a.m. until dusk for sailboarding, sailing, and waterskiing. Swimmers are admitted from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Daily admission at the reservoir is $6 for adults, $4 for kids ages 4 through 18, and $4 for seniors; children younger than age 4 get in free. Money-saving resident and nonresident passes are available.

Description: This is Boulder’s largest public swimming pool, open in summer only, with three wide lap lanes, a 151-foot waterslide, a snack bar, a toddler pool, and plenty of space to sunbathe. The pool hours vary year to year. Single-entry admission is $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors age 60 and older, $3.50 for teens ages 13 through 18, and $3.00 for children ages 3 through 12. A punch card or an annual pass will reduce the fee. Swimming lessons are offered weekday mornings.

Description: Boulder’s oldest public swimming pool, this central Boulder gem was once called the Hygienic Swimming Pool. Open during summer months only, it has a colorful mural, waterslide, and grassy sunbathing spot that make it a family favorite. The pool hours change from year to year.
