Description: An FAA-rated pilot with more than 20 years behind the controls of every type of aircraft from gliders to fighters and Boeing 737s, Mike Carpentiero has been flying gliders since 1984 and operating this company since 2003. The thrilling flights allow passengers to take the controls of a 1941 open cockpit World War II Stearman trainer or sit side by side in a 1928 TravelAir biplane. Rides are tailored to the individual—daredevil or serene—and can include acrobatics. A video of the adventure is optional. Considering that a one-hour flight can cost as much as $500, that’s a souvenir worth having. Rides are offered Oct through May, and reservations are required.
