1. Hell’S Half Acre

City: Glendale, AZ
Category: Nightlife
Telephone: (623) 877-8447
Address: 6751 N. Sunset Blvd.

Description: Think beer and shots at this joint. It gets crazy at times with wet T-shirt nights and loud local music. Back in the days of the Oklahoma land grab, people lived in tent cities waiting for the great rush to start. One of the most disreputable was named Hell’s Half Acre, and it was that concept that inspired this new Glendale nighttime hangout. The saloon is about 2,500 square feet, and you enter through a custom-made steel fence. Inside, you’ll find the bar at the back and a big steel table in the middle of the property. If you sit at the central table, you can strike up a conversation with locals—it’s lots of fun. There’s live music two or three times per week, and the bar is open daily.
