This 5-story Hampton Inn, which opened in early 1998, is considered one of the top lodgings in Peoria. Peoria Sports Complex, site of spring-training baseball games and other events (see the Spectator Sports chapter), is close by. The 112 rooms come with either 2 queen-size or 1 king-size bed. Standard features include microwave and refrigerator. The inn has an outdoor pool, plus a laundry room for guests’ use. A hot buffet breakfast is complimentary.

Description: This resort is at Lake Pleasant, an intriguing desert setting popular with local boating and fishing enthusiasts. On cool fall and spring weekends, sailors with the Arizona Yacht Club turn out in full regatta, their colorful sails unfurled against a backdrop of the Bradshaw Mountains. The RV park puts you 300 yards from the lake on the east side behind the marina, which is available for those pulling boats. In addition, the 294-space park boasts a clubhouse, an activities slate in high season, pools, spas, an enclosed pet walk, shuffleboard, laundry facilities, a general store, and organized tours. The park is adult oriented, but there are no age restrictions. Many people stay 3 months or longer. All but 40 spaces have full hookups, with rates from $32 nightly, $194 weekly, $560 monthly, $1,546 for 3 months, and $3,993 annually. Discounts are available to those staying longer than 3 months and to people who are members of Good Samaritan Club or Arizona Avenues.

Wannabe astronauts can participate in 2-hour simulated space missions Sat 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The missions include a trip to Mars and a “rendezvous with a comet.” Reservations are required, so call in advance; tickets cost $22.50 for adults and $19.50 for students and seniors. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children, $7 for seniors. Kids under 4 are free.
