Description: Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed this traditional, grass-from-tee-to-green course as the centerpiece of the master-planned Arrowhead Ranch community in Glendale. This area is booming because its gray-black hills and generous lots keep suburbia looking like the desert. Although the Legend is a traditional course featuring six lakes, it is built on those dark hills and can’t be mistaken for a Midwestern-style course. This 6,969-yard, par-72 course becomes much more difficult when played from the championship tees, but if you choose your tee boxes well, it can be very enjoyable. In fact, golf doesn’t get any better than the fifth hole. It’s a 426-yard, par 4 that’s played from elevated tees to an hourglass-shaped green with water on the right.Greens fees, cart included, vary seasonally, with a high of $85 between December and mid-April. Call or check online for low-season fees. Amenities include a clubhouse, restaurant, pro shop, lessons, driving range, practice area, and an all-grass chipping and putting green.
