It's about the High Bridge across the New River Gorge, north of Fayetteville. It's the highest (or is it 2nd highest now?) single span arch bridge in the world. About 850 ft from bridge down to the river.
Once a year, they close Rte 19 and let people walk across the bridge, bungee jump from the bridge, even parachute from the bridge. Draws quite a crowd.
Oooh wow, I would love to bungee jump though. I found the site and saw the bridge what a view. Hub said why not go. I told him you think you can handle over 100 thousand ppl possibly. He said um no that is ok, we will go to Coopers Rocks instead.
that's about right...i think we mite had a little more last year...............it sure shows it..omg people everywhere.......the view is gorgeous..me personally i'd rather be down below and watch then up top..There are so many vendors and crafts..i hope hope nothing changes and we can still go........Boy if it wasn't for that bridge closing off dh's hunting area then i KNOW where he would be..........Oh i hope the weather is pretty..mite be sunny and a slight chill in the area..wouldn't that be wonderful......last year it was stifling hot.......but i only saw people walking back to the cars since i worked last time........and let me tell ya The PARKING, omg forget it......unless u use shuttle at kmart parking lot and walmart............
Holy cow they are coming in by the bus loads.........The holiday inn is full of out of staters.....and many have those base jumper shirts getting ready for their big JUMP on sat.........this is NOT for the weak knee'd mind ya.........My prayers and best wishes to all that endure this jump...i'll be there cheering u on and with great admiration..Welcome all that come to this exciting event..............
