The victim was legitimate enough to have no fear of approaching the police and the article said he was sleeping when the first kid punched him in the face. Both kids have records, so I don't see how the man being housed or otherwise has anything to do with the fact that these two kids are creeps and are going to be creeps - probably houseless creeps - going forward.

Maybe he should have been called 'man who didn't want a house' or some like that. But I think I will stick to 'homeless man'.
Your thoughts?
Orwellian WA.

I’m not surprised.

Bellingham media today reports that the city is going to crack down on "unhoused dwellers" who live in RVs, etc.

I find that term offensive, because an RV is considered a house to me, just like tiny home sheds and tents and the hole in the ground under the bridge I dug to lay in. How dare they call people unhoused dwellers. Bellingham has no homeless population. And we pay taxes to utilize these amenities such as parking, bushes and sidewalks.

It is a process by which the merely descriptive becomes perjorative, causing the "suggestion" of a euphemism less likely to offend, even if replacing one word with several.

Want the "homeless" to go away? Just erase the word.

Interesting but if you don't have a homeless problem in Bellingham why is your city going to crack down on a non problem?

But if a RV is located on a city street or a public right a way for an extended length of time than I believe most people would have a problem with that. In Sequim if a RV is parked on city street it would become a hazard because most city streets in Sequim are to narrow to allow safe passage. Some street are so narrow that passing on coming cars can be a problem if there are cars parked on both sides of the road.
