No, not super early. And no exemption. I just called a broker in Bellevue and got a policy the next day after I found out about the situation on another forum. As the deadline approached they were flooded though so I got in well before the deadline.
It isn't a great policy and I'll probably cancel if this whole thing goes away. But the max payout is about double the maximum that the WA Cares pays out so it is twice as good by that measure. Costs us $97.60/mo. for two policies to cover both my wife and me. We are in our 50s.
