If you saw my other thread a few weeks ago, it turns out I might be working in Marysville instead.

Any recommendations on where to live as a single 25 y/o working in Marysville?

I would like my commute to work be around 20 minutes. Anything longer I feel takes a toll on you. I've been having hour long commutes for awhile now and I feel like all I do is drive.

I'm hoping to find a nice apartment for around 1k/rent where ever I decide.

Try Everett, somewhere near the neat Historic District. It is easy to commute to Marysville, has a neat downtown area that is much improved and has commuter rail that can get you to downtown Seattle if you want to take a fun trip someday. There are also Amtrak trains to Vancouver BC, some nice restaurants and pubs too.

There are a handful of 1bd apartments for $1k in downtown/central Everett. Most of the others are along 99, which I would stay away from. For more choices, bump your top rent up to $1.2k.

Rents in Everett are going up, with more and more renters being pushed out of Seattle. There are <$1k apartments in Marysville. Arlington might also be worth a look.

Any suggestions in North Marysville that's where my work is

Try Smokey Point (south Arlington). It would be very close to your work and price to value can be better.

Unless you are heavily into gambling at a tribal casino, you would most likely be bored to death living in Marysville. Everett may be hard on your budget if you avoid the sketchy highway 99 and Casino Road areas. Another place to try is Lynnwood, but about a half hour commute.

Good point, Hemlock. Statistically speaking, living in close proximity to a casino increases the chances of blowing one's budget quickly. There are some good shows there at the Tulalip, saw Foreigner live this summer. I was chuckling at the middle aged crowd rocking out, until I realized I had just turned 50 and was one of them

More suburby than rural, although you're close to rural areas, as well as wilderness areas for hiking, camping, fishing, etc.

Consider bumping your budget to $1,200, which should allow you to live in Everett, which gives you an easy commute, has a lot more to do locally, and gets you a lot closer to Seattle for events, sports, shows, etc. Otherwise, look north.

The best place for you to live depends on what you want to have there. Walking distance to bars/restaurants? Yardspace? A view? Easy access to transit? Quiet? You aren't giving us much to work with.
