I almost fainted when I saw the price, guess I will be putting it off another couple of months. They must think nobody will notice the prices creep up when we only renew every 6 years now.

it's $45 for 5 years and $54 for 6 years.

Yes but then tack on the $35.00 application fee and it bumps to $89.00. I agree it's insanity.

Just be grateful you are not holding an enhanced CDL with 4 endorsements + Motorcycle. $204 - 6 yrs >>>renewal only<<<!

My WA DOL required 'random' drug tests cost me over $400 in one yr (I have never used drugs or alcohol. but required to be 'randomly' tested.) This yr only only one test and CDL DOT physical, so under $300 so far. (but a $1200 air ticket home from ASIA to get DOT physical, since WADOL would not recognize my Asia Dr's credentials, tho most my USA Dr's are Asian, and the Physical was done at an Asian Chiropractor (cheaper)).)

When I went to renew my WA driver's license earlier this year, they said that there was an issue w/ my IL driver's license from 27 years ago. Illinos claimed that my DL had been suspended 27 years ago and they wanted a "reinstatement" fee of $70 plus a "processing fee" of $2.44.

Last I lived in IL, Barack Obama had not yet started his first year of law school at Harvard. Reagan was still prez, and the Berlin Wall was still up. I wasn't going to fly to Springfield, IL and engage an attorney over $72.44. I went on their web site and paid it.

They're a crime syndicate...fugetaboutit.

Perhaps we should impose an income tax! Then you can have lower licensing fees.

Since this is the Interwebz, I can't tell, but I hope you're being sarcastic.

Exactly. Connecticut politicians used this thinking to impose an income tax in the 90s saying they would lower other taxes. The income tax came and the other taxes did not reduce and Connecticut is one of the highest taxed states in the country now.

Lol, I think he is because of the exclamation mark. But of course, you know there's a group of people that would believe that no matter what.
