No need to have it printed on his t-shirt. Lots of other give-aways that he might be left-of-center, a nature/tree lover, and/or a "Hillary" or, worse, a Jill Stein voter. Remember that in small towns a blanket suspicion of outsiders is the starting point.

I'm a boy who grew up in a pulp mill town (Aberdeen) - I know of what I speak. That said, it wasn't until we moved to Seattle in 1961 that I was exposed to rabid racism among my classmates (Hamilton Junior High). There was anti-Indian prejudice in Aberdeen, but it was mild compared to the anti-black bias in Seattle.
