Default The Gentry

Can you tell me anything about The Gentry. Used to be in SE DC. My dad owned the place. Many thanks.

I found this forum looking for Poseur's bar, though I never attended it. Didn't see it on DJFIXXX's list, but remember it being in G'twn. Came here in 1991 and agree no one had much money but we always went out. Low rent was the key.

I'm on the DC better in the 90s bandwagon as well. I left in 2011 and the few times I was back I don't recognize the place. Not just the generic housing or the houses chopped up into condos, but the vibe is completely different.

The main thing is the people who used to book it back over the river after work in the 90s have now moved in and brought the over the river vibe with them.

I used to "live" at all the clubs, back in the '90s: Quigley's, Tracks, Chicago's, VColumn, etc., etc., etc., The memories still flood my brain and make me smile..great times that are part of my amazing past..now, meh..nothing's the same..

I remember the Bank (Fifth Column and then Platinum). I was always in the VIP with the broken air conditioner. I knew one of the security bouncer we work together back at Hecht's in Montgomery Mall, Found out the hard way that it was my boss hangout spot there, lol and Giovani (from school). I think it was the Vault just to the right of the Bank. I been in there couple of times.

I do remember Tracks, Zei, 9:30, Black Cat. There was one club I went to in Adams Morgan can't remember the name of it on 18th street across from Pizza Mart on the second floor it had a balcony. I think it was Nexus. Also there was Melting Pot and there was another one I can't remember all I remember the dance floor was small and they play International music.

There was another club I remember in Rockville inside the Hotel think it was called Studebaker's.

Then you go Baltimore you have a rave club at HammerJacks.

It was not only the nightclubs in DC it was also V Street, haha

DC’s 90’s nightlife was lit back in the day. I would come from NYC to party on the weekends sometimes. It was so much fun back then.

Maaan the 90's/2000's era in DC was def legendary. We'd meet folks from all over the country who flew in just to party. DREAM/Love The Club was the best spot on the East Coast. Hood rats ->Celebs --> National politicians and everything in between, EVERYTHING. Knew a couple bouncers from the gym..the feeling, as a young buck, to strut with your crew to the front of the line while the badies were scoping us...lol. Memories....
