I wonder if the FBI relocation will have an impact on this site. Seeing the green line extended to Konterra with dense housing and shopping would be nice.

I think it could have some impact, but likely will be a while before any substantial development plans get laid out. It will likely be some time early next decade before we even begin to see FBI employees move into the Greenbelt site.

Then regarding a Green Line extension WMATA still has to get financing in order, and make a decision on the preferred alternative for the Blue, Orange, Silver study before extending any other lines further out into the suburbs. I'd like to see the GL run all the way to BWI and terminate there, but that definitely is in the long term.

It shouldn't take that long. But the US Gov. is always a wild card. With Greenbelt being shovel ready, There's really no reason the complex couldn't be finished in 5 years with construction starting sometime next year.

Remember, there will be a retail component. Which can now be constructed knowing that Greenbelt has been selected. That can start next year as well. And as this is a federal tenant, financing for the retail/hotel portion should be more favorable to banks.

I can see anything involving the FBI site to be fast tracked by the county as this has dragged out for years. No point in allowing more bureaucracy to delay things further. Green lights all the way.

JMO.
