I live here in Camarillo now. I know republicans and I know democrats. You can avoid whichever side you want or be part of it. Like everywhere else, only democrats will hold your political opinions against you if you are not on their side. I don't have any republican friends who push their agenda on me. I am somewhere in the middle and avoid politics with my friends.
Five years ago on this very thread, I stated that, "mostly people in Ox/Ven avoid deep political discussion, which allows for nice friendships even though we know that we don't always see eye to eye. Political leanings in Ventura County in general never struck me as extreme."

Even now, after Donald Trump, a gubernatorial recall election, and the deep red/blue divide, I still hold true to that statement from June of 2015. My personal approach is that for every one point I disagree with someone, there are probably five other points where we can agree, so let's start there.

I lived in in Southern CA and that includes multiple areas of LAC, OC , SDC and the I.E. Never had to deal with any political issues with neighbors. Likely to be the same in VC. Most people do not push politics.
