I took a short trip to he local the mountains which I love during summer. Here are a few pics from Lost Lake just south of White Salmon and Hood River. I enjoyed the bright stars at night and sunrise the morning before heading home for work.

Nice here in Vancouver on the 4th of July. Not too hot with sunny skies. Spent the morning gardening and the afternoon hiking one of our favorite local red cedar forests. Skies will be clear tonight for firework viewing.

Today was very nice on the lake. Its one of my favorite times of the year when the water lilies are all in bloom.

Beautiful day on the lake this morning in Vancouver. To my surprise, after getting back from travel, the water lilies are still in bloom! It started out cloudy, so the lilies were just started to open up. This is best time to go while still glassy before the heat and hung over boaters hit the water.

Today is another scorcher in Vancouver with out current heatwave (90s in the afternoon). However, the morning are still not too hot. So, the best way to beat the heat is to get out early and go into the forest like we did today. It was a beautiful morning for a hike and not too hot (upper 70s/low 80s by the end).

It was a very nice day in Vancouver with a perfect mix of clouds and sun. We even had 'light' rain which was fantastic. Oh, how I miss the rain!! Can't wait for fall. Here are a few from a neighborhood walk at sunset.

I caught a warm summer night on the Columbia and enjoyed an awesome moonrise sunset combo. After enjoying sunset, I turned around to head in and BAM!! That big full moon hit me. I was moonstruck, for sure. lol

We're enjoying this perfect summer weather in Vancouver. My son and I did our first night paddle under a full moon last night. Living in Vancouver, we enjoy being in the PDX metro which is our our backyard. Portland is the perfect city for a night paddle with all the colorful lights of the city, bridges and waterfront. The air and water were both warm. We heard live music, saw fireworks and eventually the super moon emerge from the clouds. It was an awesome experience which we'll hopefully do more of.

You certainly take some beautiful pictures and that's an understatement. I no longer live in Portland but I'd be nervous being downtown at night, let alone paddling on the river. Are there other people on the river at night also?
