Well, African-Americans are AMERICANS first.

You can shuck and jive all you want, but the FACT is that a very large number of your fellow AMERICANS (whose ancestors were enslaved) feel UNWELCOME when they walk into the door of a government facility named after the man most revered in the Confederacy.

Are you going to undertake to re-educate all of your fellow AMERICANS who feel unwelcome at Robert E. Lee High School? Good luck with that.

Or are you going to recognize that in this world, with all the threats facing Americans (of whatever background) desperately clinging to a past that DIVIDES us is a deeply dysfunctional stance, especially when it's about something like the name on a school building? We need to UNITE this nation. We need all AMERICANS, white black or other, on the same team. We've got enough to divide us anyway. Let it go, y'all.
