Alright so I'm 18, I left home and went to live with my boyfriend and his family 500 miles away. I have no bills and don't have a car so I'm finding it is impossible to get proof of residency. I can't open a bank account without an I.D. that states my current address. I can't even register to vote without an I.D. I do have my S.S. card and my Birth Certificate. Any other way I could get proof of residency? Thank you.

Did you move 500 miles FROM Toledo, or TO Toledo?

For what purposes are you trying to prove residency?

Typically a lease could be used, but that's out since you're living with family. Maybe you could get a cell phone plan in your name at your current address and print out the bill showing your current address?

If you have a job, your pay stub will work.

If you have a driver's license get the a address changed to where you are living. If you don't have one could you get a state ID, it looks similar to a driver's license UT it is a picture ID you get through the state, go to the same place you would go to as you would for a driver's license and ask them what you need to support get ID. Are you still in the same state you were in from before you moved. Maybe your high school diploma would also be of help.

State of Ohio BMV

If you are no longer in Ohio look for same in what ever state you are in.

All you have to do is get whoever you are living with to write a letter to whatever agency you need to submit it to stating that you are living with them and either are renting or you have lived with them and will continue to do so for however long you expect to be there.

My mom had to do the same thing for one of my younger brother's recently who had to move in with her and he needed to change his license from out of state. She wrote a letter for him saying that he resided at her address and paid rent and got the letter notarized.

Get a state ID if you are here in Ohio. You can use a letter from your boyfriend's parents along with you SS card and birth certificate and having that ID will allow you to register to vote and everything else.
