Recent new says the most widely visited pornography site is now blocking Texas IP addresses over recently passed legislation requiring proof of ID to enter site. Any thoughts or opinion on whether or not it's the state's business to impose such age verifications on these websites?

No, it is NOT the State of Texas' business to block access to any site that contains legal material. And that's ignoring how easy it is to bypass the restrictions.

I can foresee a time when the State of Texas would make accessing any Democrat site illegal, given who currently runs the state and their proclivities.

What's funny is that when YouTube started to restrict some firearms videos, creators moved those to the site https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...eos-to-pornhub

That is funny.... in that case it's a private company choosing what is allowed and what is not allowed on its own platform.

Can you imagine a database of state issued ID's of "verified" of age porn users being leaked to the public. There is no way I would register my info on one of those sites for the simple purposes of age verification. Back to the woman's undergarment section of the Sears catalog I guess.

No wonder we are ranked dead last as a state (I think) in personal freedom.

It isn't so much the verification of proof of ID.

It is the financial penalties that might be imposed on Pornhub for any underage kid who somehow bypasses the ID system. Imagine, for example, a kid finds a lost wallet with ID (and maybe credit card), and accesses Pornhub using these adult credentials - Pornhub could be liable for extreme monetary penalties.

Yeah, I addressed it on the PoC forum. They made the hub restrict TX access but didn't offer any Plan A or B how to reliably and securely verify age.

Search interest in VPNs began disproportionately rising in Texas Thursday compared to the rest of the country, according to a CNN analysis of Google Trends data — quadrupling in the hours following Pornhub’s announcement before retreating slightly by early Friday morning.
