Okay,
I finally had the camera down stairs when the birds were here. Only the big birds were around this morning, couldn't figure out where the little guys were then realised the cat was out side hahahahhaha Smart little birds!
But here is our resedent big bird. He is a red heaeded wood pecker. He normally doesn't come this close to the house, but we have neglected to but out new corn and seed bell since they ate the last ones but it did give me an oportunity to get a few good shots of him.

I love that thing that you use to hang the feeders. I was just standing on the deck last night and asked my husband where the heck I could hang bird feeders. We were at a loss.

Aha! Problem solved! Did you get it at a nursery? (I bet you are going to tell me to go to Wal-Mart! )

I'm like you. I shop at WalMart only when I have to. I will definitely get one of those things! Just fantastic!

For any of you in Nashville, there's a nice shop out on Highway 100 (in West Meade) called the Wood Thrush Shop that sells all sorts of bird and nature stuff. Dozens of birdhouses, bird baths and that sort of thing. Even some bat houses. (Moderator: I'm not sure if this is allowed; if not, please delete this part of my post.]

I keep saying I'm going to get one of those "See Rock City" birdhouses.

One thing that I've found handy is a bird bath that's made to attach to a deck railing. I have a stone bird bath out in the yard but it's a lot more convenient to fill the one off the deck.

I have always vowed that when I get that ever elusive house the first thing I get is a "See Rock City" birdhouse. I'm going to be like the astronaut planting the American flag on the moon! Oh, yeah!

By the way, you are all invited to the party, when I get that house!

mbmouse, I love your pictures, especially the one with Blue Jay, but the wood pecker is a Red Bellied Woodpecker. Weird, I know, I found that out when I started photographing birds. The Redheaded Woodpecker's entire head is red.

Thumbs up Shepards HOOK -Pole stand

Friday at most of the ARTS / CRAFTS stores we saw a good supply up front of these Shepards HOOK's for bird supplies. Hard for squirrers to climb.
A.C.Moore had then, maybe Michaels, also Hobby Lobby down here.
We have a mini 3 inch Rock City birdhouse, almost like a key ring size, think they can be bought in bird supply stores, I still see some in peoples front yards. Interesting History / marketing story about those signs that were paint on roof of barns, etc. Believe the place where Minature Golf was invented. ?
Humming birds came back today ,one even in the garage.

That is true. Miniature golf originated from Tom Thumb Golf, which originated from the owner of Rock City, I believe.

The "See Rock City" advertising on barns is legendary. I saw it on a trip to Florida (!) in 1973. I first actually got to see Rock City in July of 2005. I told my husband that I will be back to buy one of those birdhouses when I buy my own house.
