I see someone I'll say "Hi how ya doin'?" they say "Oh just fine" and thats the extent of it for both of us. My wife tells of relatives that live out west who say ppl will get out of their cars at a stop sign and talk to each other for 10 minutes. Ummm no sorry I just cant do that.
I can understand that, I may pull over to talk to someone whom I already know though. I can say there's been many a time we've spent over an hour talking with someone we ran into in Costco (in Montana, not unusual at all btw). As for being friends with everyone in the neighborhood, well in a perfect world I guess but that's never been the case and I certainly don't expect it but I do try to be on somewhat speaking terms with most of 'em, that's how we found out the punks 6 doors down ripped off the stuff in our truck or enough that they could ask to borrow a ladder or lend one if need be.

This discussion has really become a chat thread for meeting and greeting neighbors and not so much about the effect on Tennessee.
