I like this map which illustrates where the 2021-2022 growth has taken place. I wish I could make it larger to focus on just Tennessee. But it does show that Middle and East Tennessee are seeing lots of growth.
Yes but how did you Arrive at the .1,298,195 figure, for Metro Memphis? When you add all the counties up (9 counties) it comes out to 1,339,855 for 2022 Memphis Metro

Nice Map btw, Couldn't zoom in on Tennessee buts it's cool to see the other metros nationwide

I was going by the Wikipedia definition of the counties in the Memphis MSA, and they don't list Marshall and Benton counties although their map does show Marshall County as being in the Memphis MSA. Sloppy research on my part, sorry about that. Someone needs to update that although metropolitan area definitions are supposed to be updated later this year so who knows what will happen.

Do you have a source for this map? I'd like to explore it but can't find it on the Census web site.

Here you go. I really wish it could be enlarged.

The 2022 city estimates are out. From the Strong Towns TN Facebook page:

Tennessee has 15 Cities with over 50,000 people. These all fall into the large city category according to the US Census. Our largest city is Nashville and the smallest in the large city category is Collierville. This is the large city list with their corresponding July 1, 2022 population:

1. Nashville – 683,622
2. Memphis – 621,056
3. Knoxville – 195,889

Census Data Part 1
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Bb2...w?usp=drivesdk

Recent Census Data Released a few days ago, Don't know if these are the Official Updated Metro Delineations for the Next 10 years until the Next Census, or the Updated Metro definitions haven't been released yet, and are still forthcoming. But if these are the Official Metro Definitions for the Next 10 years

Nashville has 13 Counties mostly surrounding it in Middle Tennessee. I think at one point years back Nashville had 14 or 15 counties in It's Metro but the Census reworked it to 13. Clarksville was not added to Nashville MSA and they don't form a CSA but I think Nashville has other CSA's like with Shelbyville

Memphis lost a county and was reduced to 8 counties down from 9, losing Benton, County Mississippi. So no longer 5 counties in Mississippi but 4 Counties in Mississippi 3 in TN and 1 in Arkansas but 2 in Arkansas if you factor the Memphis-Saint Francis CSA. Memphis MSA 8 counties CSA 9 counties

Knoxville has 8 counties. Knoxville can get tricky cause sometimes the Census used to add Sevier County Pigeon Ford/Gatlinburg area to it but this time Census left it off so looks like 8 Counties Knoxville MSA, Knoxville a little over 900,000 getting close to 1,000,000

Chattanooga looks like 6 counties. 3 in TN and 3 in Georgia and
And looks to have some sort of CSA with Cleveland,TN and McMinn County

Census Data Part 2
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1B_o...w?usp=drivesdk

Looks Like Clarksville picked up a county don't quote me on that, Two in Kentucky (Christian and Trigg) Montgomery County TN, and looks like a new County Stewart County TN, (unless it was already part of it, but I don't remember seeing it before now) So now 4 Counties for Clarksville TN instead of the 2 or 3 it already had.

Jackson. It Looks like Jackson, TN picked up 2 counties (Gibson and Crockett) and now has grown from 2 (Madison and Chester) to 4

Jackson-Brownsville CSA: Early Reports that the Census is Combining Jackson and Brownsville (Haywood County) into a CSA. Big Implications for Memphis's Ford "Blue Oval City" being constructed in Haywood County currently. This Means Ford's B.O.C ( largest ever car factory) will actually sit in Jackson's CSA just outside of Memphis. Haywood County Separates and sits between Memphis MSA and Jackson MSA
And it looks like according to the Census Haywood County will fall more towards the Jackson Area/orbit for now, Although with Blue Oval City Traffic and Commuting patterns could change towards Memphis by the next census

Cookeville looks to have picked up two counties, (Jackson and Overton) it used to consists of only Putnam County. So now 3 Counties for Cookeville MSA

7 Counties for the Tri Cities Area

-Johnson City, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area
Carter County, TN County or equivalent
Unicoi County, TN County or equivalent
Washington County, TN County or equivalent

- Kingsport-Bristol, TN-VA Metropolitan Statistical Area
Hawkins County, TN County or equivalent
Sullivan County, TN County or equivalent
Scott County, VA County or equivalent
Washington County, VA County or equivalent

With 13,000 residents Stewart County TN may be too small to count. Most of the growth is to the east & north.

County seat of Stewart County is Dover. Home to Ft Donelson battlefield.
