Nah. My 2015 6-cylinder is 256 hp and 247 ft-lbs. it’s an appliance. A freakin Camry 6-cylinder is a 6 second car. That’s the definitive appliance car. Even the base engine is in the low 7s.

You’re using a poverty spec BMW.

I guess it is a matter of perspective. I consider these cars to be "appliance cars", not one with a 300 hp engine.

  2. 98 hp 2021 Chevrolet Spark | $14,395
  3. 120 hp 2021 Hyundai Accent | $16,390
  4. 120 hp 2021 Kia Rio Sedan | $17,015
  5. 122 hp 2021 Nissan Versa | $15,855
  6. 147 hp 2021 Kia Forte | $18,855
  7. 147 hp 2021 Volkswagen Jetta | $19,990
  8. 147 hp 2021 Hyundai Elantra | $20,645
  9. 149 hp 2021 Nissan Sentra | $20,335
  10. 152 hp 2021 Subaru Impreza Sedan | $19,720

Sorry. Still an appliance. Handles like a refrigerator on wheels. We have a 2018 3.6R. It’s a fantastic camping vehicle and pleasant enough to drive.

I drove a Hertz Chrysler Voyager (totally stripped Pacifica minivan) from New England to Colorado a month ago. That was indeed a refrigerator on wheels. My 2015 3.6R is somewhat better than that. Still in the appliance part of the spectrum, though. It's certainly practical for my application. With Nokians, it's a very good ski car. It can pull my boat 2 miles a couple times per year. It's fine at Home Depot/Lowes garden center duty. It hauls yard debris to the town brush dump. I rent U Hauls occasionally. It will tow an enclosed 5x8 just fine. It hauls chopped up trees to the town dump in a rental 6x12 open trailer. Occasionally, I have four full size adults in it. All summer, it has beach chairs and an umbrella in the back. My first body-on-frame SUV was 1986. I've always owned an appliance car. This is the smallest, cheapest one that would do the job.

The turbo/CVT combination felt a little "jerky" to me on a test drive around town, maybe it would just take a little getting used to.

Like you, we find the seats very comfortable. The Ascent is even better, but is bigger than what we want.
There’s no comparison. You’re comparing a bicycle to a motorcycle. There’s a huge difference. I would not have have bought my Outback if it didn’t have the turbo. (Test drove both)
