Hi all,
I'm really trying to find the best place to relocate my family. We have 2 young kids so schools are important. I want family friendly neighborhood, preferably a subdivision with a pool. I've had recommendations for NW florence, longs, and Spartanburg. I would venturethat the 2 most similar would be longs and florence due to their proximity to the beach. Not that I mind inland. I was looking at inland NC at first but it seems as if more.people in my daily run ins are choosing SC. taxes are crazy low (ill.put it this way, I pay 5k a year for a townhouse PLUS hoas for a very low.rated school district) I live in a welfare town now and I really really want to be away from that kind of culture. If I wanted better schools, I'd be looking at 9k plus in taxes. I just can't justify that at all when the schools seem decent in these areas of SC too.

I plan on transferring down with bank of america.

Going to.post in the appropriate sub threads as well

With BOA wouldn't Charlotte be better? Maybe the Rockhill area?

I really don't want to live in Charlotte. Charlotte's the hub but there are many other branches all around the country.

What part of the BOA operation will you be working in. If it's regional hub I'd probably say Columbia since it has two towers or Greenville since it has one. If it's branch office I'd say charleston Columbia Greenville or rock hill.

If you listed your "must-haves", it would be place to start. Mountains, beach, or right in between?

Banking center aspect of BOA. I'm not a fan of working by the corporate offices of any company... just preference really.

I want good schools, proximity to stores, a development with a pool and playground, and safe. I don't care about beaches or mountains really

Is there a certain reason you were looking at Florence and Spartanburg? I would agree Cola, Chs, or Greenville unless you are looking for a smaller sized city like a Florence or Spartanburg.

Florence has a lot of great things to offer, but based on what you are looking for with schools and not wanting to be in a welfare town, I don't think it would be a great fit, even in West Florence since the city isn't really big enough to have areas totally separate from one another.

Florence and Spartanburg were just a few of the towns mentioned, that's why I considered it. It's such a tough decision when you literally have the whole state you can move to.

Budget is probably up to 250k, in a development with pool.

I do keep seeing Simpsonville as well. It seems like a nice place. When I narrow it down further I will visit. I just don't want to waste a visit on towns I could've skipped out on
