I once also seriously thought of living on a boat anchored in some quiet spot like this, but I don't know if I could handle the hassle of life without dear old electricity-

Most liveaboards have plenty options for solar / generator power.

I’m cool where I’m at.
Living the life of a traveler would be rather nice though .

I think I would choose to live in a carriage house in San Francisco.

I'm happy right now, so I wouldn't change a thing. I'd continue living in my smallish middle class home, and my 11 year old Toyota is still not breaking so there's no reason to get a new one. I can't think of anything that money can buy, that I need or want.

I think ideally somewhere north in the summer and somewhere south in the winter (in the Northern hemisphere, of course). At present I like Saratoga Springs, NY and possibly Naples, Fl in the south. I am also intrigued by the West and plan to spend some time there as well.

The how part of your question requires more reflection. Staying pleasantly busy, I guess, and finding meaningful pursuits.

In the meantime, we'd either have a lovely beach home being built OR better yet live in various places first to see exactly where we'd want to put more permanent roots again. Hopefully, we could do that someday still.
Austin, Texas and the Texas Hill Country would be where i would live if money was no object.

There are still a few small privately owned tracts of land in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. If I could buy one I'd: have a great water supply with a well, no neighbors, a decent garden (it's not that barren), and still be within a reasonable distance of a hospital, supermarket, and the beach.
