I would get tired of the circus atmosphere every day....the roads are a nightmare, especially in a golfcart. Medical is another thing. There is not enough medical in The Villages, and you have to travel far, outside the community to get to doctors, hospitals. And again the real risk of sinkholes.

That is a valid worry. Here, we have a history with various specialists, and it would be arduous to start over.

This woman goes into detail about the prices and fees and gives a grand tour of the community. One of the highest viewed videos of the Villages probably on the internet. It went viral. I would move there in a heartbeat if I was a senior.
We're not really seniors, yet, as we are only in our late 50's but there are definitely people moving to the Villages at our age. Some are retired, some are nearing retirement and still working remotely, some work PT
jobs.

It's a fun place. Yes, there's traffic and crowds but that can be said for a whole lot of places.

My cousin and wife live in Green Valley, a 30k retirement community 20 miles south of Tucson, and they built a hospital out there near Green Valley, it was open for a year, and then closed, so my cousin has to come up to Tucson for any medical care.

At 73YO, I tried very hard to avoid putting my hands on a steering wheel, I can walk to 2 grocery stores, 12 restaurants and I can even walk the 3 blocks to the sprawling Tucson Medical Center.

For that reason, the Villages wouldn't be attractive at all, and the mosquito's another big reason for not living there.

The 2 grocery stores I can walk to open at 7am, Tucson Medical Center open 24 hours.

I'd rather walk in 100 degree temps with super low humidity than 85-90 degrees with humidity.

I briefly worked one summer at a resort on Captiva Island. That completely cured me of ever moving to FL!

Are you basing your comments on first hand experience living in The Villages? I can drive my golf cart to The Villages Hospital and to my Dr office. I never have a problem with traffic either in a golf cart or driving a car. Sinkholes, yeah they can happen but they sure don't have me worrying about them, pretty much a nothing burger for everyone I know.

My goal is to find a house within a short golf cart ride to conveniences. If there is a restaurant within walking distance even better.

Having helped older people before, by the time they give up driving they are usually not walking any distance, either. That's a good time of life for Independent Living communities that have shuttle service to doctors appts, stores and activities.

I'm actually more worried about lightning strikes than sinkholes.

Then there’s the whole “swingers” thing…lol. I don’t know whether to believe that or not. Watched a YouTube video yesterday that started with two couples drinking martinis and lounging in the hot tub….turned to my wife and said, “yep, and that’s how it starts”. Lol
