So the spouse sent me a link to this video with the addendum that if only we'd seen this, we could have saved our marriage. (No comment.) First, you both get up in the morning and have breakfast while watching the news, which sparks lively conversation...

Waaaaaaaay toooooo sloooooow. Tried to watch it, but quickly grew bored with the video. Their "ideas" might be fine for some people who are in some kind of rut, but they are simply normal stuff which has been done everyday for the last 40 years for most people, watch news, take a walk, eat ethnic food. Meh. And how is any of that different from non-retirement??

But Norm and Tina take ONE HOUR WALKS so they can talk to each other!

I started laughing hysterically when they suggested breakfast together and watching the news. a. DH has never been up before 10 am in his life, b. He hates breakfast, c. He hates the news (as do I).

I would love to be able to take a 1 hour walk. Unfortunately my knee doesn't allow it. I have to take short walks and ice the knee in between.

Watch the "news"? I watch cartoons, more realistic.

If someone gets up in the morning and watches the news, that's trouble right there. You need to search for news from trusted sources, not have it spoon-fed by the MSM. Also, some people need time (some a lot of time) to really wake up, so striking a conversation then would be counterproductive. Finally, even retired people may have things to do and feel rushed in the morning.

I'd say exactly the opposite: In the evening, after the work and chores are done, you two get together to have a relaxed dinner and perhaps watch a movie on TV together. It works!

Sorry for you. DH andI have breakfast together, go on long walks, and yes watch the news together with a glass of wine before dinner. Life is to short, not to be happy with the one you are with. There are happy couples out there, who do talk to each other!

Funny I was just watching YouTube channel on how an old Mom & Pop shop in Japan prepare Sushi for sale. They show how the old man buy fresh fish in the market to back to store preparation. One thing about Japanese food is they emphasize the prettiness of colors. It made me hungry for some sushi.

I was never into walking and/or running because it's boring for me. But I don't mind playing a full court basketball and run around because it has a "purpose" (at least when I was young). So whenever DW suggests that we go for a walk, I suggest alternatively do some yard work instead and that usually works.

At one time, DW could walk longer than me. But after we spent a year in Washington DC, I had to take the metro to work walking up & down the escalators, I was able to out-last her in walking. So in short - practice!
